I'll guess you are running version 2.2 in which case a quick search of this forum would show that 2.2 has a major security exploit that is easily patched. Read the sticky thread.
Email me your cpanel addrsss and details. Or message me.
Do you have any other scripts installed that use the database? If so they will have the password in them.
You are confusing the guestbook password with the database password. You put your DATABASE password in the config file. The password in your MySQL database is the guestbooks password.
$GB_DB["pass"] = "xxxxxxxxx" is not encrypted, It is in plaintext. Just put your MySQL password in there.
try my password reset script - www.carbonize.co.uk/reset.zip
hm weird. I thought it may be a problem with your templates but they appear to be fine. Try redownloading the guestbook from here and then replacing the files you have on your server with the new download.
Can you please supply a link to the guestbook in question.
Sounds like your MySQL details in config.inc.php may be incorrect. Double check them.
It's like that to sto pspiders/bots from collecting the email addresses for sending spam to.
Did you set the permissions correctly? read the sticky thread for more details.
no, niet, nein, non.
If it's on a different server did you replace localhost with the name of the server?
I deleted the stupid entry. Read the sticky thread to see how to patch your guestbook.
A lot are turkish. I know because my guestbook logs failed logins and a lot of them come from people using the main Turkish ISP which encourages hackers by making it damn impossible to report them. They have no email addreeses published anywhere and they don't have the conventional abuse@ sales@ info@ nor support@ email addresses.
