People can delete the cookies and vote again. And from what I'm doing people are going to be sure to do that.

Ok, I found how to not show the Result after Voting!

But then the Vote won't be counted

But the message "You already have voted" is shown when I refresh the site!

ARGG!

I was thinking of removing the last page (guestbook.html), edit the page_id.txt, and see if it runs normal again.. Hope this would work out. If you / Amber have any suggestions on how to go about this problem, let me know. I don't want to get a new guestbook as old post will be hard to search.

I've searched and found some information that helped me solve the problem.
Thanks Carbonize for all your helpful advice on this forum! I was able to find similar problems and apply it to my own dilemma. One post in particular turned out to be the answer.

The problem with cPanel is that it adds a new line to the end of the files it edits. This is why I always recommend downloading the file and editing it on your PC with a text editor.

This was posted by Carbonize........and like I said, I'm not a programmer, I assumed changing the text would help. Regardless, I still don't know how to fix it.

They could just use google and do a search for a phrase that only appears on the advanced guestbook. This is one of the reasons I removed the proxy2 link from the bottom of mine. Search for this exact text including quotes on google "Fill out the blanks below to sign the guestbook" to see what i mean. You will notice that every result is the add entry page for advanced guestbook even if they have renamed the file.

I edited a file in my guestbook (Language/english.php) and now the entire php script/code is appearing at the top of my guestbook page.

I simply changed a quote at $LANG["FormMess1"] as I have been flooded with spam in the past few days and thought it would keep spammers from searching for the original text.

I tried to install the DB version of your poll, but at step 3 I get this error:

IP check will prevent a WHOLE lot of people from voting because of proxies like aol, colleges, and others.

to further complicate this, i just realized that netscape 7.1 allows multiple votes even when the cookies are enabled. what the &^%$?!

For testing purposes, I would like to be able to vote multiple times. I've made a test poll here http://www.robindel.com/index2.php and was sure NOT to include the poll_cookie.php file. In addition, I've turned the IP table check OFF and set the timeout to 0 hours. However, I'm still constantly seeing the "you have already voted" message.

I can't figure out how to get rid of this so I can vote multiple times.

In addition, I changed the cookie_expire value to 1 hour on my actual poll (not the test one) and I've been getting the "you have already voted message" for over 12 hours straight.

My guestbook suddenly doesn't know how to jump to a new page. It has happened for some time and the guestbook page gets distored (including the skin I've made, and the header & table) now. It holds over 2000 post on same page!

I've checked the page_id.txt file, the post id series seems to have jumbled up with the htmls. It doesn't know how to generate new HTML after page 317. Does any body know what is happening? Is there a limit to the maximum post a proxy2 guestbook could hold?

I try to fix the problem in dreamweaver but doesn't work so i revert.
