They way i did it was to view the poll on my live web page, then view source, then paste that into dreweaver or golive or frontpage, then change the table markup to div's, then look at the code for the poll template, then put the php variables that call tha data only(not the $font or $color stuff)in the new form. sounds like alot of work but just look at it and i think youll see what i mean.

What I did was to create a small banner and called it logo.gif and another on called signing.gif --- these changed the default image (upper left) and the image above the guestbook dropdown. If you have imaging software, the first needs to be 225X42 pix and the second 90X30 (If not, they will be resized). These both need to replace the ones in your img directory (hint - rename the originals in case there is a problem).

I am trying to get the guestbook 1.5 to work on my website, however when i try to add a new entry, an error page comes up saying the following:
Guestbook - Error
Cannot create ID file guest_id.txt in /home/usr/you/book. Please check your base directory.
In the readme instructions, under part 1, it states to change the first line in guestbook.pl to the location of the perl program on the server, then lists some examples of that, and then just randomly says "set the correct paths and required URL's.
Is there something else within the guestbook.pl i am supposed to change other than the first line for the place of the perl program on the server?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP
thanks

I saw the Advanced Guestbook being used at a favorite website and followed the links to this site. I love the clean design and the functionality of the guestbook---so I wanted to load it to my fledgeling website (under construction).
My website is a learning experience for me---but installing this wonderful guestbook has stymied me. I have downloaded the PHP zip, read all of the posts in the forum, tried to follow the directions in the readme file, but I feel like a complete idiot. I'll admit that I'm still learning all of the features of my DreamWeaver MX 2004 software, but I've mastered a lot of things with it, so far.
Can anyone tell me how to upload/install the guestbook onto my website using DreamWeaver? From skimming your forum posts, I know that your skills are way beyond my own---but please pity a poor novice and share your expertise.

Howdy
There is a headline above the table containing the guestbook form that says, simply:
Sign the Guestbook
I want to remove it, but I'm not finding the addentry.php file as easy to edit as index.php - too much of a php noivce.
Where can I find this headline so I can remove it?

When a Comment is added to the guestbook the Comment is listed with a black font color. Is there are easy way to change it? I tried all the font color settings in the admin function to no avail.

I am getting the mail send error in my mailerror.log file "From address not in member domain. Message not sent" What email from address does Advanced Guestbook use for new guest book entry notification, and is it possible to change it easily. I have tried looking though the code for it, but have not found it. From what I understand my ISP requires the send from email address to be from my domain.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I am attempting to install Advanced Guestbook, but I have come up against a stone wall.
I installed the tables to my Mysql database, successfully. However, the Advanced Guestbook setup page that gave me the success message had an incorrect entry for the Your MySQL host: field. This entry was the same as the Your database: and Your MySQL username: fields, which are identical (my hosts suggestion, which has worked successfully on numerous other databases).
I checked my database and there are 10 tables existing. The success page prompted me to go to the admin page. When I did I clicked on the link, I received the following error message:
MySQL Error : Connection Error
Error Number: 2002 Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
Date : Fri, January 9, 2004 11:14:49
IP : 69.44.121.165
Browser : Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 4.0)
Referer :
PHP Version : 4.3.1
OS : Linux
Server : Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2510
Server Name : www.wanted-band.com
I saw this problem in another post in this forum, but it was not addressed. Please help.
Sincerely,
Jay
