Yeah that was the problem. I never knew that you couldn't put php in an HTML page. Is there a way to get how many votes an option got?

EG: I made a poll on browsers and it says IE 40.00% how Do I get it to say 2 votes then 40.00%

My polls width is too wide. How to I change those sort of settings?
I didn't realize development had ceased. Thanks for that info.

I wonder if the php behavior is better than the ssi one, or are they the same?
How many people stay on a website for 30 minutes, not many. The exact time chosen is a compromise to prevent people from voting multiple times and letting people from the same IP address (aol users etc) be able to vote within a reasonable amount of time. I am sure you can enter some other value, but very small and very large values seem to cause problems. Obviously the development of Advanced Poll has ceased, so we are just trying to make the best of a somewhat flawed free script.
Thanks for the quick response.

I had the 2 timeouts set to the same (very high) value. Doing what you suggested, and clearing my cache and cookies, seems to have solved the issue of not showing the results after voting. However, won't it present the poll input page again in half an hour? The behavior we want is to vote once and then see the results whenever you return to the polling page, unless the user defeats the mechanism by deleting their cookies. I would happily turn off the IP tracking altogether and just rely on cookies but it doesn't seem to work.

Thanks again,
Michelle
I realize this post is over a year old but I am having exactly the same issues and was wondering if anyone had ever figured out a way around them.

The ssi behavior of the polls is quite bad. The average user can't see the results unless they click on the 'view results' page. If I turn IP checking off, even though the cookies are installed in my browser, I still can't see the results without clicking on view results. I just keep getting the vote input page over and over.

Basically this ssi/texfile option is only working for people with fixed IP addresses, which is a small fraction of users.

Any updates would be appreciated.

Michelle
Hi,

I've installed Advanced Poll 2.0.3 today for the use in one of my sub domains. All works fine until you vote then I get an error:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/mydomain/public_html/subdomain/fsacars/fsacars_polls.php:9) in /home/mydomain/public_html/poll/poll_cookie.php on line 21

All functionality works, except for this error that appears.

Any1 have any thoughts?

Cheers
Steph.
I am in trouble I think I have read all the posts about installing Advanced Poll, but I still don't get it.

I use a content management system ,phpwcms, and the index page is index.php which is all php code. I can't understand how I can make it work. Has anybody done this in php based site I mean all my site comes out of phpwcms, all php and I have templates to create pages inside the phpwcms admin area so my pages are created with php. anyways I hope somebody can take me out of this hole.
Everything is fine and dandy and shows up as intended, but for some reason, I cant for the life of me get the poll to work. I select my choice and hit Vote! and nothing happens and poll results do not change. this is getting to be very frustrating and time consuming.

its because you have to give the full address to poll_cookie.php, so something like:

/home/bobarts/public_html/advancedpoll/poll_cookie.php
hi all,
how can i set such that, a member can post only one vote and if he posts another he should get "Already Voted"
Is there a way in General Settings
