At a guess it looks like your host does not have GD compiled. GD is what PHP uses to generate graphics and so you end up with the plain bmp versions instead.

Well make a back up copy of everything first but that's just common sense. And don't replace the configuration file.

Given that the DB has nothing at all to do with the files used for the poll script replacing them will not ffect the database.

My advice is just update to version 2.4.2 of the advanced guestbook as it has Captcha built in.

I don't get any spam at all. I found a good .htaccess file helps. Block servers like layeredtech.net and asia.co.th I think. I'd have to look at mine to be sure but Layeredtech is a big culprit. I'd see a request from a layeredtech IP and then staright after one or two attempts at posting on the exact page the layeredtech ip just requested.

Easiest way is to just delete the text and input box from templates/form.php

Unfortunately it shows the error.png image for a number of errors. Could be the database is not set up correct or the information is incorrect. COuld be th epath to the fonts is incorrect.
