You have a .htaccess file ?
Check th epermissions on the file. They should be set to somethign like 644 or 755.
The ip ban only bans by IP. I wrote a mod to make AG store the IP and not the hostname. It's in the forum somewhere.
Yes because the English I used here is so damn complicated
Resetting the Admin Password:

With Carbonize's reset.php file:

That and the fact the AG captcha is simple and I believe it has been compromised already.
Looks like your guestbook is using the bitmap version of captcha as opposed to the normal version and possibly there is a bug in the bitmap generation. I don't see why it's using the bitmap version though as you have GD installed.

Basically the CAPTCHA checks to see if you have GD installed and the imagettftext function exists. As we know you have GD installed I can only assume that the imagettftext function is not working. Hmm php.net says that imagettftext requires both the GD library and the FreeType library.
Hmm wonder when he changed the table prexfix. What error messages you getting?
nothing else needs changing. Save the 2.4.1 file in the 2.4.1 admin folder. Upload the whole 2.4.1 folder then run the update_db.php file.
No you copy the database information from the 2.3.1 config file to the 2.4.1 config file then upload the 2.4.1 folder to replace everything in the old one or to a new folder THEN run the 2.4.1 file called update_db.php found in the 2.4.1 misc folder.
copy database information from old config.inc.php to the 2.4.1 config.inc.php file. Upload the entrie 2.4.1 folder. Visit misc/update_db.php in your web browser.
ah crap another link I forgot to update

So this bit didn't help?

Resetting the Admin Password:

With Carbonize's reset.php file:
http://carbonize.co.uk/Lazarus/Smf/index.php?topic=8.0

In PhpMyAdmin, by Jam'n:
http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2595
http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1711
(Important: Only follow Jam'n's instructions for resetting the password. Do Not follow others' suggestions to Overwrite the v2.3.1 session.class.php file with the 2.2 version!)

And 2.4.1 comes with it's own password reset script.
If you copy the database information from the old config.inc.php file to the new one then the entries will be there.
Search is your friend or even just reading the ticky thread clearly titled READ THIS BEFORE POSTING ANY QUESTIONS!
Just update it keeping the same database information.
