Now I may be really dumb but I can't get this to work. My installation was thru Fantastico using CPanel. I can create a poll etc in the admin panel but when I go to my URL address assigned to view the poll, I get this:

Demo 1 Demo 2 Demo 3 Demo 4 Demo 5 Demo 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<?php
/* Include this before your html code */
include "./poll_cookie.php";
?>

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<?php

/* path */
$poll_path = "/home/tsesyeit/public_html/advpoll";

require $poll_path."/include/config.inc.php";
require $poll_path."/include/$POLLDB[class]";
require $poll_path."/include/class_poll.php";
$CLASS["db"] = new polldb_sql;
$CLASS["db"]->connect();

$php_poll = new poll();

/* the first poll */
echo $php_poll->poll_process(1);

/* the second poll */
$php_poll->set_template_set("simple");
$php_poll->set_max_bar_length(80);
echo $php_poll->poll_process(2);

/* the third poll */
$php_poll->set_template_set("popup");
if ($php_poll->is_valid_poll_id(3)) {
echo $php_poll->display_poll(3);
}

?>
Poll ID 1 does not exist. Poll ID 2 does not exist.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clue what to do from here. I have read Auron's posts but they don't seem to apply.

Help

I didn't do anything else than that no, but I just had to be on the safe side That's why I took the screenshot

I'm going to try and upgrade this Guestbook now, guess I'll just follow the one you added in the earlier post amber222

I'll get back to you here if I get any problems

Thanks for your help

Is there anything else I should check?

The 2.2 config.inc.php file does not have any base_url code! Hadn't noticed that one before.

Here's what I have done in the past with those guestbooks where the site owner has CPanel but doesn't know the password:

Go into CPanel and select MySql Databases.

Create a new database user with a new password.

Grant access to the Guestbook database to the new user.

Go Into PhpMyAdmin and export the Guestbook database to a .sql file so all the entries will be saved in case of any problems. (Be sure to select all the tables and the box that says "file".)

Edit the admin/config.inc.php file to reflect the new database username and user password.

With all the entries saved in an .sql file, you should be able to upgrade without worry.
My problem is fixed. I saw on the forum that tmp and public was 777. Stanger but when i install the guestbook i did the same. Oke i works(very happy ) and thanks for your time!

Marco
Thanks for the reply.

Well in the Advanced Guestbook I use, there ain't anything called that. I knew about that before as I asked about an newer release, but in this old release there ain't anything in the config.inc.php file in the admin folder.

I'm a little sceptical to upgrade aswell, as I'm afraid of losing posts. When I installed it through cpanel, so it created the username and password for the database aswell. I have no clue what the database's password is :p

So do you have any suggestions?
In the beginning it was oke but after 2 months is was not possible more. And i make no changes and it show no errors.
What can i do to make it work again.
I use Advanced Guestbook 2.3.1
Thanks Marco
Hi, my problem is that i can't put photo's anymore in my guestbook. Please help me.

Thanks Marro
Hello,

I was just wondering how to I get the guestbook added to my layout on the webpage as this page has?

I use Advanced Guestbook 2.2.

The images won't show and the links are wrong the way I've included it now. Which files do I have to edit to make em work as it should?
I installed Advpoll 2.03 on my website and the example looks very nice. However, ...

My question:

"How do I get the poll on one of my webpages?"

I copied the template code for the poll to MM Deamweaver: result: i.s.o. a nice poll, I see a stupid green screen with some strings etc.

So,

Where do I get the code of the poll and where do I put it??
Where do I have to get the other code for the results and where do I put it?
And the same question for the comments? ...

Thanks for your help!!!!
Thanks Carbonize - I appreciate that! Good lookin' guestbook you've got there too...

Take care,

Bob.
*BUMP*
By the way,

Anybody know what file to look in to get rid of the time and date stamp on entries?

I've gotten rid of a few things that tended to clutter up the feel of the guestbook... less is more more often than not.

Yours warm and fuzzily,

Bob.
awww shucks,,, yer all great! I just happened to read Tom's post first... after a long day (was supposed to be my day off) of nonsense.

Thanks God for all of ya'!

Bob.

ps... been having fun customizing the guestbook a few ways since I took the first hint to look at the ENG.php file. if you like: www.bobcook.ca
I've been looking all over all day long to find out how to make a few simple edits to the advanced guestbook, which was bundled with my webhost, which had zero info, nor did cpanel.net whom bundled this guestbook....

How to customize it a bit to fit into the website, that's all I wanted....

Thanks TomH!
