Just means you got IP wrong. Search the forum for my mod to make AG store the ip and not the hostname.

Blocking the IP's will only stop future spam entries from them IP's.

I think it's the [ and ] that caused the problem.

Database server is usually localhost. A lot of hosts set up your username and database name with a CPANELNAME_ prefix meaning that if your database is called agbook it would actually be CPANELNAME_agbook.

Whats the full hostname from the guestbook?

Use dnstools.com same as before.
