I would like to point out that the install.php file ONLY tries to create the database if you tell it to. It offers two option,create database and tables or just create tables.

Comment password is for password protecting comments not entries. A comment is something that can be added to an entry.

Sounds like either you have HTML enabled or they got into your admin and edited an entry. Looks like they are using a meta refresh tag. If you supply me with the guestbooks details I can remove the offending post for you.

You have an error in your addentry.php file. At a guess I'd say you changed it from to

It will stop some but not all. You are better off trying my Human Verification mod which is in the Advanced Guestbook forum.

If you are currently using 2.3.1 then you just replace all the files except the config.inc.php file in admin folder. If you are using 2.2 then you will need to use my update script to alter the database.

There already is an image verification mod for the guestbook. The reason I chose to tell people to use this method is because this was easier to integrate and not all hosts have GD support.

Did you give write permission to the tmp and public folders? The need to be 777. Do a search for CHMOD for instructions on how to do this.
