I updated my guestbook to v 2.3.1 and now when I log into the admin area it accepts my password BUT as soon as I click a function I'm taken back to the username/password screen again. A loop.

I think I saw this problem listed here yesterday when I was having problems with the upgrade, but now I'm having no luck finding the thread. I tried copying/pasting the default password into that p'word field thru sql myadmin but I still get the same looping login routine.

Any help is appreciated.

Need some help here please, I just upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3.1 and now guestbook takes forever to open (at least 1 minute) please advice.

and replace <".$this->name."> $from_email with the email address you want them sent from. Mine looks like this

My Profound thanks. I made the changes in the lib/add.class.php file and the automatic E-mail notification to me works perfectly now. Actually, the changes had to be made on two lines -- the one you showed was for the "public" portion of the Guestbook -- but the code for the Private section of the guestbook entry E-mail notification also must be identically changed.

Tony the place to start is in the entry.php There you have the code for the icons and the alt= for the link. The icon is the home.gif. The alt= link I'm not sure about yet but check in the lib folder from there you can get and idea of how to make the URL link for the entry.php page to include the URL input by visitors.

Can someone please explain to me how to edit the config. It's not exactly explained correctly and I don't know what to edit and what not to.

I have all my polls on one page (vote.php) but I can't seem to get them to work. It always defaults back to the homepage as though that's where they are. How can I fix this??? It doesn't even count the votes.

how do you get started with the advanced guestbook 2.3.1? i downloaded it but i dont know where to save it, and if i open it in dreamweaver it fills the page with code (not html). can u customise it? ahh please help!!

How do I move The Advanced Guestbook, from on provider on another. Just need to move it and the data.

EXPLANATION:

Am having exactly the same problem as you. My E-mail is through AOL. The Guestbook server apparently does not put in the notification E-mail a valid address for itself. See info below. Maybe AOL server rejects back to the Sender Server the E-mail guestbook notification messages because there is something wrong/missing in the "FROM" address; but I don't know how to fix it. Hope somebody out there can help us both!

SOLUTION:

Please correct the message "From: address" sent in your SMTP transaction. The from address is typically formatted as myEmailHere@my-Domain.com. You may need to contact your ISP or server administrator for additional assistance.

For additional troubleshooting, reference the manual telnet directions. The message From: address is included after the DATA command.

I found the automatic script at my Website Server that automatically updated the Guestbook to the new software; so do not need help now.

i wonder if it has something to do the fact im running freebsd 5.1 cause when i try the fix on a linux box it works..any thoughts?

Ipowerweb has a autoinstall under cgi advanced guestbook in the control panel just click it enter a dir name and waaala its done!

i have tried every fix given in this forum and i still cant get it to let me login as admin ..tho if i delete the password in book_auth i can login with just test ..it has me baffled
