So when you turn off the ip stuff and use this it doesn't stop you from voting multiple times?
You can use either the ip table or the cookie.
You can switch logging on for a particular poll, but, if my memory serves me right all that does
is track stuff about the poll, like who voted and when.
A post in this thread by me...
http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5675#5675
May be helpful to explain a few things : )

1) Post all requests for Support in here.
2) For general chat, like sign my gb! or review my site post in General Discussions.
3) Also, since me and Carbonize are mods expect posts to be deleted if necessary or topics moved or deleted.
4) One thread per problem or user would be greatly appreciatted as well.
5) There won't be any more bump this or that since we can now sticky important topics that are useful or should be read.
6) Since we're only good with adv. poll and gb. Please label your posts descriptively. Eg. HELP ME!!! = v. bad. Some sort of I got error unexpected... = helpful.
7) Pre-fix topic titles with either [agb] Adv. guestbook or [ap] adv. poll.
Search then post. Search with a variety of terms.
<add more when necessary>

Again, as pointed out repeatedly, this will not keep out spammer bots - it will only help to make your guestbook not show up in the search engine directories.
so that spammers are LESS LIKELY to find your guestbook using a search engine.

This assumes the file calling the poll_cookie.php is in something like httpdocs - as in the base folder for your site, where the index.html/htm/php file is.
