i'm new to this php guestbook
I have set up my own myMYSQL server.
Advanced Guestbook 2.3.1 (PHP/MySQL)
Copyright (c)2001 Chi Kien Uong
URL: http://www.proxy2.de
Requirements:
- MySQL 3.22.x or higher
- PHP 4
Installation:
1. Open the configuration file 'config.inc.php' with a text editor
and set up your database settings.
<-- I did this by set it to my server, with username, etc. -->
2. Create the tables for the guestbook:
mysql -u<user> -p<pass> <database> < guestbook.sql
Or use the script 'install.php' -> http://www.yourDomain.com/guestbook/install.php
<--i go to guestbook/install.php--> and can't connect
3. Give write permissions to these directories:
- public - 777 (drwxrwxrwx) (directory)
- tmp - 777 (drwxrwxrwx) (directory)
<--i did this too>
4. The default account is:
Username : test
Password : 123

i've already taken it out of entry.php and it does not display on the guestbook when you view it, but it still generates the email address from the database in the view source. any one have more detailed info on how to do this and what templates need to be modified.
thanks

Everything works fine, untill I place the poll into my site.
Then I get this error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare set_max_bar_length()
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

is there a way to have visitors enter there email address and not have it display in the guest book public view or the view source? i would like to capture the email address and be able to view them in admin mode only. i don't want people and robots to be able to spam my guests.

Ill try to look at things tonight - thanks for the info...

 |

ok - but if you change locaiton to url, does the user have to enter it twice?
where did you make your change so that it shows. (sorry im just getting used to php...

I am able to edit the templates in the configuration, but where or how do I set the template I want to use?
|
 |
|
That will work for me - I will go edit the templates then...
Still I would love to be able to show the url and the location...
|
 |
|
How can I change the template so the actual test of the url shows up instead of the home icon?
|
 |
|
How can i add my old guestbook entry's in the Advanced Guestbook??

Thank you so very much! Sorry it took me so long to reply. I really appreciate the help!
I have another question though now. Is there a way to change the whole background from being a solid color to an image? I'd like to change it from being a plain gray color to the following image:
Thanks again!
