Aloha !!!
Here is a small question.
I would like to customize the guestbook.
I have a site with a table. It has 2 cells. The left cell is a menu and the right cell displays whatever you choose in the menu.
How do I get the guestbook to restrain itself to only one cell in the table ?
A frame page is NOT an option...

Well its my first time trying to work with .php or whatever... and the thing why im interested is cuz da guest-bookz look amaizing .. i want one for my site .. and yes i downloaded the demo followed some intructions.. i just dont get how to upload the guestbook.pl ???
This is wut it says on the readme.txt file
2.Upload guestbook.pl in ASCII-mode to your cgi-bin directory
and change mode it to 755 (-rwxr-xr-x).
im very lost in this one soooo if please anyone could ever help me actually finish this guest-book .. i would really really appriciated .. oh yeah and 1 more thing
1.Open guestbook.pl with a text editor.
Change the url in line one, to the Perl program at your server.
Usually it is: - /usr/bin/perl or /usr/local/bin/perl for Unix.
- C:/Perl/Perl.exe for Windows (use slash "/")
Set the correct paths and required urls.
do i have to change the URL.. for my site? or for my drive??
anywayz i did post the thing in my site
http://members.rogers.com/fisy/gb/addentry.html
but it wont send it anywhere and the file
guestbook.pl its there but it jus comes out as a script..
here

ok Thanx the staff and the rest of you
oh yeah if your replying to this . please e-mail me at

Your posting helped me get further, but now I'm getting the following message:
The directory /usr/local/apache/vhosts/www.domain.com/guestbook requires mode 777!
The thing is I do have that mode enabled, but still nothing

Installed Free Link Page 1.2 and is working fine...thanks.
Now...would like to be notified via email when the form is submitted. Can I use <form METHOD="POST" ACTION="http://localhost/cgi-bin/formmail.cgi"> in addition to the <form method="post" action="http://localhost/cgi-bin/links.pl" ?
And will be attempting to put in the form the persons name and email address. That way I can contact them if need be without figuring out from their website. If you have done this would be nice to get the code.
thanks
Mike

When I try to access to the admin folder (for admin my poll) I get this error:
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '../include/config.inc.php' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in f:\area\users.quickfox.org\~\satvcb1\poll\db\admin\common.inc.php on line 19
What can I do?
I would appreciate any help.

I know I'm replying to a 9 month old post but I just downloaded the guestbook (not advanced) and was having problems finding the correct base directory. This was the first post that actually gave me a clear enough path to follow to figure out the base directory and get my guestbook working, so I figured a little bump for anyone who's been having the same problems...

I'm using Guestbook 1.5 and I'm getting the following error:
Cannot open ID file page_id.txt in /usr/local/apache/vhosts/www.domain.com/guestbook for writing!

Mark wrote:My daily counter was working great for about a month, but as of 4 days ago the counter never reset to 0 at midnight. Now it simply keeps adding up the user visits day after day. Nothing has chanaged on the website... I'm wondering if it's related to my hosting company.. maybe the clock on their server is screwed up or something. Does anyone know what may have caused this??
The counter is located at http://www.goetzefamily.com
it's in the lower left hand corner.
Thanks,

Mark,
Did you ever receive any help with this problem?
I'm having the same trouble.

Hi
I really appreciate this script, it's excellent. There is however, one thing that I am having trouble with. I have the poll page set up to display the "newest" one unless one of the previous polls that is listed is selected in which case it will display that ID. So all the elements of the poll: the question, the poll itself, the comments, and the form are displayed based on this. so for each of these I'm using something like this:
I've edited the functions so that they will respond to "newest", but the problem is that for some reason, if I don't specifically use a certain ID number, I can't add comments with the form. I've never formally learned PHP, so I'm having trouble figuring this out myself. If you could suggest a workaround or what might need to be done so that the form knows that the comments are being submitted for the currently viewed poll I'd really appreciate it. If not, could you maybe point me in the direction of someone or somplace that might help me out?
here's the files to refer to:

class_poll.php

class_pollcomment.php

Thanks in advance,
Phil

Eric,
To adjust the time, go into Administration, click on Style, then scroll down to Date/Time/Display options.

Yes you can.
You will need phpMyAdmin and a timecoverter for this.

Is there an option to enable the webmaster of his / her site to be able to preview all guest entries before allowing them to be added into his / her guestbook?
