Speaking of why it's not making thumbnails... I have 4 instances of the guestbook on various web pages - only one of them in PhpNuke. I noticed that one of the installations (not PhpNuke) wasn't making the thumbnails. I also had an issue on that one with your image verification script. It was not creating a new image, just using the same one over and over. Otherwise, the program works fine. I use that guestbook for samples to show, so this issue is not important but, considering the fact that I uploaded the same set of files in each instance, it seems strange to me that three guestbooks will make the thumbnails but one doesn't.

I know someone else who upgraded their guestbook from 2.2. Everything works fine, but I did notice that the guestbook picture is not really a thumbnail but just a resize.

I am wondering if it could just be an installation error or one of the files got messed up and need to be uploaded again.
That's a good idea, Trevor. I tried a summary post for the guestbook a while back when it seemed everyone else was off on holiday. It helped for a few days to cut down on repetitive posts, but was never bumped.

It sure would be nice to have separate areas for the guestbook, poll, counters, etc. Failing that, I think an index is much needed.

Carbonize, if you update, can we move to your site?
Carbonize, do you still need the error message? Have a 2.2 guestbook that has not yet been upgraded.

That's from me.
See item #5 of Auron's instructions In this thread:

Also take a look at Auron's instructions here, which say the cookie expiration time should be the same as the lock-out time:

Difficult to make suggestions since I can't get in there to look at the files, but a couple of questions:

1) Are you sure you uploaded the admin_license.php file? Some programs will not work properly if the license is not there.

2) What is your setting for the base url in your include/config.inc.php file? I am thinking it should be something like this:

I put this at the VERY top of my HTML document:

Make it a .php document.

The problem is not with that particular entry. When you click on the referer link provided in the error, there is no problem. If you hold the mouse button over the "next page" link, you will see that it gives the following link: http://raisethestakes.clawz.com/guestbook/index.php?entry=10?entry=20

This makes me think it is calling for two different pages of results at the same time. Did you previously try to change the dropdown menu? Did you change something in the lib/gbclass.php file?

Maybe you need to upload a fresh lib/gbclass.php file
Please do not refer to me as Mr. Critic.
It's Ms. Critic, thank you.
It can be quick if you would do a search.

Look in the lang/english.php file.
Looking at your source code again, I did notice that your base url looks different than the path. Check your base url in admin/config.inc.php and maybe put the full path.
When the javascript popup is working, the source code reads:

Yours is missing the "t_" and just reads:

<a href="javascript:gb_picture('img-1096469374.jpg',504,345)">

Carbonize probably has a solution.
In CPanel, select "File Manager"

Navigate to the directory you put the guestbook in
  • click on the folder to the left of "public_html"
click on the folder to the left of "guestbook"

  • Click on the guestbook subdirectory named "Public"
  • (Click on the name, not the folder)

  • (Usually) on the right, select "Change Permissions"

Click in all the boxes so the permission reads 777

    Click on "change"

Same thing for the guestbook subdirectory named "tmp"
Take a look around the site or do a search. The Old Man just posted instructions for this a couple of days ago!
I guess I thought this was the "simple fix"? You mean there's more?

Too bad most of the people who did this logged in as guests with no email or web page reference. It appears they aren't interested in keeping up to date on the issues - only returning to the forum if they encounter a major disaster, and then not bothering to search for answers before posting. I'm sure they'll be back when they get hacked.

It would be good if we could get some stickies, like JTD mentioned in another post.
Yep! I tried some 2.3.1 guestbooks that I know went back to the old file because they couldn't get out of the admin loop. Now the exploit works on them.
