The "Thank you for posting" message uses the template called success.php. Here you can edit that pages output all you wish. The part that is responsible for taking them back to the guestbook is
A sub domain is just a way of providing an address to a part of your website that is easier to remember than the full address. For example say you have a forum on your site and the address is http://www.yourdomain.com/forum you could make a subdomain for it and call it forum so then you can use the address http://forum.yourdomain.com
Do you mean the thank you message or the page it goes to after that?
You will need to get a copy of the MySQL tables. This can be done via phpMyAdmin or, if both sites use cPanel, use cPanels MySQL backup function.
Do you have a database? Is the information you supplied in the config file for the database correct?
You don't particularly have to change it. I doubt your visitors will care if you are running 2.02 or 2.03 so long as it works.
Sorry speed reading is a nasty habit of mine. Basically PHP originally used $HTTP_GET_VARS as the name for the variables submitted in a url but PHP 4 uses the update dversion of $_GET to do the same thing but still supports the older version. PHP5 by default does not support the old style so may cause problems.

And yes you would have to redo your modifications IF you updated.
Variables were always handled in a secure manner.

I'm sure the webmaster, with his undoubtable talents, tends to be very busy doing real work (as most of us are). Maybe my work spurred him to do the update but possibly not. The idea for email encrypting I used was actual taken from this sites guestbook. Given the huge number of scripts Mr. Uong provides we cannot expect him to be constantly updating them.

Advanced Guestbook versions for Content Management Systems:
  • TPK Guestbook 3.1.1 (PhpNuke Version)

    http://www.rideo.de/modules.php?cid=18&d_op=viewdownload&min=30&name=Downloads (German)

There are probably more PhpNuke versions out there.

Html code enabled does not appear to pose a risk, but that could be because the admin is using Sentinel (a must-have for PhpNuke Security!).

    http://www.3hc.co.uk/studentsupport/ (PhpWebSite Version)
Note: Some CMS versions are based on early versions of Advanced Guestbook (not 2.3.1), so you should investigate re: security. Mods listed here may not work with these versions.

  • Upgrade 2.3.1 to 2.3.4
Carbonize wrote:As has already been said TIME AND TIME AGAIN you simply replace all the files EXCEPT admin/config.inc.php. Entries and settings are in the database not the files.

    -- Auron, hey Carb! ; )
I did offer to fix the old guestbook if they supplied me with the username and password but they obviously decided to start afresh with 2.3.1.
Open up the file called vars.class.php which is found in the lib folder. Find

    and replace it with

    Save the file
    Use this http://www.carbonize.co.uk/reset.zip
Download http://www.carbonize.co.uk/images/newsattach/reset.zip and extract the file. Upload it to your guestbok folder then goto it in your web browser. Follow instuctions to reset password and username. You then need to patch the guestbook. www.carbonize.co.uk/AG or www.carbonize.co.uk/Board for more details.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

2.3.1 can only be hacked if you updated from 2.2 and kept your 2.2 session.class.php file to fix the login loop problem. Either that or you have HTML enabled.
You are welcome to ask questions but I'd suggest you start your own thread for them.
